Why Brutalism?

The Brutalist movement was never about being "brutal." It was about honesty — showing the raw structure, the seams, the process. At Studio Moncada, we channel this philosophy into every pour. Our concrete vessels carry the texture of the mould, the subtle variations in aggregate, the quiet imperfections that make each piece singular.

From Sofia to Your Shelf

In our Sofia workshop, each piece is individually mixed, poured, and cured. We use a proprietary concrete blend that achieves the density needed for durability while maintaining the warm, tactile finish that makes our vessels inviting to hold. The curing process alone takes 48 hours — because good concrete cannot be rushed.

The result is a vessel that ages beautifully. Concrete develops a patina over time, absorbing the oils from your hands, the ambient light of your room, the memory of every candle you burn within it. It becomes yours in a way that mass-produced objects never can.

The Sustainable Angle

Concrete is one of the most recyclable materials on earth. Crushed concrete becomes aggregate for new construction. Our offcuts are collected and reused. Nothing is wasted. This is not a marketing claim — it is simply how the material behaves when you respect it.
